Eastside Christian Church is a non-denominational church welcoming all who desire to worship or to learn more about our Lord Jesus Christ. To be non-denominational means two things. First we are totally autonomous. There is no governing body over us. That gives us the freedom to focus on local issues and needs. We can respond as our community changes.
Second, while believers are welcome who come with differing personal beliefs and biblical interpretations, we do feel the need to be unified in what we preach and practice. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” [Ephesians 4:3-6]
So we are encouraged to consider, discuss, and when necessary change our understanding of what God expects of us both as individuals and as a church. We are committed to be a Bible-centered church. We follow no creed books or statements choosing to let the Scriptures guide us without human reconstruction.
Just like local churches we read about in the New Testament, Eastside is led by elders, men of significant spiritual maturity and leadership skills. [Acts 4:23; 20:28; Titus 1:5-9] We are served by a pastoral team with each member of that team bringing his/her own talents, skills, and gifts to serve the church. Beyond that, Eastside encourages each member or attendee to seek his own “ministry”, opportunities to serve and teach, as we follow the model of Jesus.
