Ben Atchley: Preaching Elder
Elder Ben Atchley is currently the interim pastor. Ben was born, raised and has spent most of his life in the Willamette Valley. He graduated from Liberty Baptist College (now Liberty University) with a BA in Theology. He started his law enforcement career while at Liberty and it spanned 31 years before he retired from Albany Police Department in 2010. Ben’s heart for missions has led him to teach, preach and sing about the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. Ben and his wife Eileen make their home in Tangent where there is always an empty rocking chair for someone to enjoy.
Goldie Toews: Office Manager
Goldie was born in Tacoma, Washington and was raised in a Christian home and attended Grace Missionary Baptist Church. At the age of nine, she accepted Christ and was baptized. In middle school, her family moved to Scio, Oregon. In high school, she attended the youth group here at Eastside Christian Church. She graduated from LBCC with an AA degree in 1996 and got married the same year. After returning to Albany after living in California for five years, she became a member of Eastside in 2002. She and her husband have two children. Goldie enjoys attending Christian concerts and scrap-booking. She has held the position of Office Manager since 2014. Goldie is involved with Children’s Ministry and enjoys serving with those in the congregation.
Hunter Hoover: Youth Pastor
Hunter grew up in a small town near Great Falls, Montana. He accepted Christ when he was 4 years old. Though he grew up in the church, he took a lot of things for granted. In high school, he was challenged to really apply his faith. He felt the Lord directing him toward youth ministry and teaching. He then attended Corban University, where he met Ana. They got married just shy of two years later. They have been blessed with their son, Sylas, born in November 2016 and daughter Cerra, born in January 2019. For fun, Hunter has become increasingly appreciative of board games and podcasts. Owls are his preferred animal. Also, he tends to wear shorts and fun socks whenever possible.
Kyle and Rachael Fischer: Worship Leaders
Kyle was born and raised in Silverton Oregon. He was raised in the Catholic church and started attending Eastside Christian Church in college with Rachael. He was baptized as an adult in 2008. He has been playing guitar in the church from an early age and started leading worship about ten years ago. He has many interests outside of Church including raising livestock on the family farm, golfing, dancing, cooking and many more. He met his wife Rachael in College where they were both part of the Chamber Choir at LBCC.
Rachael was born in Eugene Oregon and has lived in Lakeview, Tucson AZ, Silverton, and Albany. She was baptized when she was 6. She has always enjoyed singing and has been part of many worship teams. She recently started playing the Bass. She started attending Eastside Christian Church while in college with Kyle. After helping start a church in Corvallis she and Kyle returned in 2016. She enjoys reading, swimming, theater, martial arts, dancing, and working with animals of all kinds.
Grace Atkins: Office Assistant
Grace was born in Iowa and raised in Nebraska but has lived all over the USA. However, her favorite place by far is Oregon. She was saved at the age of seven and rededicated her life to Him at 21 much to her mother’s delight. Grace has five children who she loves very much and can’t wait to have grandchildren someday. She is currently homeschooling her youngest and treasures this time with him, hoping to train him up in the way he should go. She feels very blessed to have a wonderful church family and to be able to work at a job where she can serve the people she loves.
Michael Wall: Facilities Maintenance
Michael takes incredible care of our church facilities. He was born in Portland Oregon. He is an Oregonian tried and true. He came to Christ during the summer just after he graduated from high school in 1983. Michael was baptized in the Clackamas River. He then spent his early Christian years at a small church near Carver, OR. He loves running, singing, laughing and watching criminal television shows like Law & Order.
